boxes
Unbleached kraft with a stamped logo — the bottom of the price range, and it doesn't look like it. The budget option that reads as a choice.
Why plain kraft works
Kraft tuck boxes are the honest end of custom packaging: natural unbleached paperboard, a simple tuck-end structure, and typically a single color of print. The aesthetic works because it hides nothing — the material is the design. Small brands have made it a signature look, which means choosing kraft never reads as cutting corners; it reads as knowing what you're doing.
Specs we build to
| Spec | Standard | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Board | Natural kraft paperboard, 16–20 pt | Heavier stock available for weightier products |
| Structure | Tuck end (straight or reverse) | Auto-lock bottom for jars and bottles |
| 1-color — black or white ink | White on kraft is the signature look | |
| Extras | Die-cut window optional | Cut on the same die — inexpensive |
The budget math
One-color printing on stock kraft board sits at the very bottom of custom packaging pricing — the ink is cheap, there's a single printing plate, and the board needs no bleaching or coating. It's the configuration we mean when we say cut print coverage before you cut quantity. And if even a printed kraft box strains the budget, the honest next step down is an unprinted box with a die-cut sticker — same shelf presence, even lower cost of entry.
Color printing on kraft is possible but shifts — the brown base mutes every ink laid on it. If you need accurate brand colors, that's an SBS folding carton job, not a kraft one. We'll tell you which you're describing.
The sustainability part, without the speech
Unbleached kraft skips the whitening process, routinely carries high recycled content, and recycles curbside. We won't put a leaf icon on it — the material speaks for itself, and your customers can read a box.
Common questions
What's the minimum order for kraft tuck boxes?
500 units per size and design. At kraft's price point, 500 units is one of the lowest-cost ways to get fully custom packaging at all.
Can you print full color on kraft board?
Yes, but honestly: the brown base mutes and shifts every color printed on it. A white ink underlayer fixes that at extra cost — at which point white SBS board usually makes more sense. Kraft is at its best with one confident color.
Are kraft boxes recyclable?
Yes — curbside, nearly everywhere. Unbleached kraft is also commonly made with significant recycled content.
What's the difference between this and a folding carton?
A kraft tuck box is a folding carton — just in natural kraft board with minimal print, sold as its own thing because so many brands want exactly this configuration. Same structures, same die process.
Can the box protect the product in shipping?
Paperboard presents; corrugated protects. A kraft tuck box should travel inside a shipping box. If the box itself must survive the courier, look at a kraft-faced mailer box instead — we'll quote whichever your product actually needs.
